Standalone version changes:

• Added: menu item mnemonics (ALT+letter shortcuts for Windows and Linux)
• Added: all keys are properly detected by the “Keyboard (System)” node in fullscreen mode

Node changes:

• Added: ToString (Number), does a simple number -> string conversion

Other changes and notes:

• Fixed an error where certain features would be locked because the menu would think “F” was a special key shortcut. To fix it, certain shortcuts (function keys, DEL, TAB) will have to be disabled for a while.

This update marks the beginning of work on the standalone version optimization feature group. For more information, see the current development roadmap.

Features added:

• The standalone version now uses the native operating system’s menu (pending tests under OS X however)

Nodes changed:

• SineSynth (Sound): frequency input is now correct
• TriangleSynth (Sound): frequency input is now correct
• SquareSynth (Sound): frequency input is now correct
• SawtoothSynth (Sound): frequency input is now correct

This version basically changes the way how sound synthesis is handled internally, and add some new waveforms. It’s not entirely right yet, but a lot better than before.

Nodes added:

• Sawtooth (Sound): generates a sawtooth waveform for sound synthesis, with configurable harmonics
• Square (Sound): generates a square waveform for sound synthesis, with configurable harmonics
• Triangle (Sound): generates a triangle waveform for sound synthesis, with configurable harmonics
• Sine (Sound): generates a sinusoidal waveform for sound synthesis (previously known as “WaveGenerator (Sound)”)

Nodes removed:

• WaveGenerator (Sound): dies and reincarnates as “Sine (Sound)”, with changed parameters and functionality

This is the version that will be handed over to my college later today as support for my Fnk thesis.

Nodes added:

• Line (Graphic): creates a line between two x,y points

Nodes added:

• WaveGenerator (Sound): now it requires a proper Sound output (via an AudioOut node) instead of playing sound on its own
• Text (Graphic): fixed: it now applies x and y properly
• SoundFile (Sound): fixed: properly recognizes when it’s 100% loaded (“loaded” connector is set to 1)
• SoundFile (Sound): fixed: MP3 files weren’t loading properly on the standalone version of the application
• Display (Graphic): fixed: due to a crazy Flash player bug, going fullscreen with the browser version would simulate a SPACE key press (used to move the canvas). When going back to the patch, the user would be unable to continue editing unless he/she pressed SPACE again to deactivate the canvas dragging mode
• VideoIn (Graphic): fixed: Number-based connectors weren’t allowing multiple outputs

Other changes and notes:

• Fixed: patch nodes are properly unloaded and disposed when closed (sound-based nodes weren’t getting cleared so they’d continue to output audio even when the patch was closed)

This version introduces a number of tentative nodes and Sound features. However, the standalone/AIR version seem to have a problem with Sound playback and some of the features aren’t currently working there.

Nodes added:

• ImageFile (Image): a different type of I/O node: it load an image file from the disk when double-clicked and outputs it as Image data
• Opacity (Graphic): sets the opacity of a Graphic instance; will probably change in the future, or be completely removed in favor of more complex color control nodes. It’s there as a test
• Length (Array): returns the number of items in an Array of any data type
• SoundFile (Sound): a different type of I/O node: it load an MP3 file from the disk when double-clicked and outputs it as Sound data
• AudioOut (Sound): plays Sound data
• AudioSpectrum (Sound): performs analysis of the global audio spectrum, both waveform and FFT, generating an Array of Numbers as output
• WaveGenerator (Sound): generates a wave and plays it. This is a very early sound synthesis node and it WILL change. It’s there as a test

Other changes and notes:

• Fixed: opening patches with links created between connectors that don’t exist anymore won’t crash anymore when the engine tries to set the connector visibility as “linked”

Menu options added:

• Insert > Node: opens the node list to create a new node
• Insert > Comment: starts writing a comment

• GetPixel (Image): returns the RGB and Alpha values of specific pixels of an Image
• Filter (Graphic): allows filter effects to be applied to a Graphic instance
• Blur (Filter): a basic filter, blurs the graphic

• Fixed: lessons 17-20 weren’t working
• Fixed: deleting a link carrying an Image doesn’t crash anymore
• Fixed: IO Slider now accepts min-max values when min is actually higher than max
• Changed: side panels are not visible and will be hidden until they’re actually useful
